We started our models by forming similar to the shape of a skull out of aluminium foil, crushing it as much as we could to make sure when we press clay into it, no dents appear!
after our foil skulls were made, we began applying the clay.
once i started applying the clay to the foil skull, i realised teh shape wasnt all that great, so using the clay to add extra shape i corrected it as much as i could before adding any details.
i was happy with the depth of the eye sockets, the size of the nose and the shape of the cheeks, so i started adding another layer of clay, which i then used to put my details in.
i was happy with the mouth and eyes, they looked quite like the way i had portrayed them in my orthohraphics. with that done, i wanted to challenge my skills a little bit and so i created an ear on the left side of the head.
i was happy with the ear, and after accidently pressing it a few times and flattening it, i reshaped it and decided to leave it to cure for a little bit, to save me ruining it any further!
after i had a little break, i took a look at my model, i realised i had make the head too small, and the face too big, so to fix this, i added a few layers to the top of the head to extend it. i also added a neck to make the model look better.
after i added the neck and extended the head, i used the technique of pushing the clay towards the back of the head to create a burnt/worn kind of texture!
and finally, i added hair to my model, i started by putting and extra layer of clay on top of the head and scratching the hair texture into it, then i made the fringe hair on the table, flat, scratched the design in then twisted it and secured it to the head. as for the ponytail, i just shaped a piece of clay and attached it, then scratched in the texture.
i added part of the shoulders and the clothing line, just to finish.
